Evidence-based, trauma-informed preventative practices that support the wellbeing of trauma-affected students and the educators that work with them.

Black Butterfly Education’s Philosophy

Black Butterfly Education strongly supports the view that the wellbeing of students and teachers is interrelated. If teachers are struggling to cope with the students in their class, then the support they are able to give to students is limited. In order for educators to effectively work with their students, their own mental health and wellbeing must be prioritised and nurtured. To improve the wellbeing, curriculum engagement and academic achievement of our students, schools must provide better preventative support for students and teachers in addition to reactive models.

Due to the prevalence of trauma and its profound effects in schools, it is imperative that classroom settings be safe trauma-informed spaces that support the wellbeing of both students and the educators that work with them.
